Finally, after the launch of its mobile fxTrade for iPhone and iPad, Oanda unveils a mobile trading application for Android… To download the app, just go to Android Market and search for fxTrade…

I’ve always wanted to trade with Oanda because of their narrow spreads… However, their trading platform is one of the most primitive I’ve seen… their mobile platform (browser based) is worse… it’s basically a joke… You cannot do anything (such as adjusting your stop loss) except entering new orders or closing existing positions….

Luckily, with the launch of fxTrade for Android, Oanda offers a lot more flexibility for trading on the go… You can enter new orders and adjust the Take Profit, Stop Loss and Trailing Stop of your existing positions… My only wish is that they’ll allow partial close of our existing positions… That way, I can close half of my positions once my Take Profit is reached… and trail the remaining half…

Nonetheless, the mobile fxTrade is still an excellent application… a dream come true for me… Nice job done, Oanda… :)

This post has nothing to do with trading… but just wanna share my ‘joy’… As some of you may know… I’ve been using a HTC Dream (aka G1, the first phone running on Android OS) since May.. and I still totally love the phone… nothing can beat a phone that’s so highly customizable… well, maybe except another Android phone with much more impressive specifications… (read: Nexus One)

Anyway, I rooted my phone back in June and have been using a custom ROM (jf v1.51) since then… lately, I got ‘itchy’ and decided to flash a new ROM again… given that it has been 6 months since I last flashed a ROM, I forgot most of the steps… Anyway, I found some instructions on the web and hastily tried flashing… I was too impatient… somehow, the urge to upgrade my ROM was irresistible… (well, you can’t really blame me, because I was trying to flash to the new Hero ROM… that o’ so sexy Rosie/Touch Sense)… had the greatest scare of my life when my phone refused to boot up after flashing… to make things worse, I was supposed to go on vacation the next day (in fact, about 4 hours later)… I wanted so much to solve the problem before I leave for Taiwan, but I knew I needed to sleep… so unwillingly, I went to Taiwan thinking that I bricked my phone…

Luckily, I didn’t… the first thing I did when I returned home from Taiwan was to try to revive my G1… Long story short… I eventually managed to get it to boot again and today, I finally flashed the Hero ROM and managed to get it running smoothly… unbelievable…. the ROM is sooooo cool… and it runs so smoothly despite the fact that the G1 has about 100MB less RAM than the Hero… and best of all, this ROM allows me to zoom when taking photos or videos… that’s something that was lacking in my old ROM….

For those of you who may be interested (and also for my future reference)… Here’s my configuration:
